There will be temporary roadblocks and diversions in Ghana’s capital town, Accra, because an Extraordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (Ecowas) will take place on Friday, March 25.

The Jubilee Lounge to Liberation Road at Opeibea through to the Independence Avenue will be closed to traffic.

The road from Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel to National Theatre on the Independence Avenue through Ako Adjei Interchange will also be closed to traffic.

These were contained in a press release from the Ghana Police Service on Thursday, March 25.

According to the press release issued by the Director-General of Public Affairs, DCOP Kwesi Ofori, there will be diversions for motorists plying the N4 through the Liberation Road to the Central Business District. They are to use the Patrice Lumumba stretch onto the Dr Hilla Limann street, Kanda.

Those from Central Business District will be diverted at the National Theatre to link up Ring Road towards Osu and also link up with Dr Hilla Limann Street at Kanda towards Madina.

“All motorists are advised to take note of these arrangements and plan alternative routes before embarking on their journey,” the police said in the news release.

Traffic officers will be deployed to assist all and sundry with these arrangements.

“The motoring public is entreated to observe these roadblocks and diversions and cooperate with the police for a successful event.”
