President-Elect Mahama forms interim national security team ahead of appointments

Prosper Bani, Kofi Boakye, Gbevlo-Lartey, et al named in Mahama’s interim National Security team

President-elect John Dramani Mahama has unveiled a six-member Interim National Security Coordinating Team to manage national security affairs until permanent appointments are made.

The team, announced on Friday, January 3, 2025, will officially begin its mandate on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.

The team will be led by Prosper Douglas Bani, a former Minister for the Interior.

The other members include:

  • Lt. General Peter Augustine Blay (Rtd.), former Chief of Defence Staff
  • Kofi Totobi Quakyi, former Minister for National Security
  • Larry Gbevlo-Lartey Esq., former National Security Coordinator
  • Brigadier General Fuseini Iddrissu (Rtd.)
  • COP Nathaniel Kofi Boakye (Rtd.)

In a statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Special Aide to the President-Elect, the team’s primary role is to ensure seamless coordination of national security operations during the transition period.
