The meeting scheduled between the Accra Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service and the Minority in Parliament has been called off.

The meeting was scheduled for Friday, September 8 at 2:00pm.

It was to decide on the route for Tuesday’s #OccupyBOGProtest by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of Parliament (MPs).

The Command rejected the proposed route of the Minority for its first notice, which was scheduled to have taken place on Tuesday, September 5.

The law-enforcement agency filed an injunction application, which is still pending at an Accra High Court.

Before the matter is settled, the Minority issued another notice for the same demonstration, this time to be staged on Tuesday, September 12.

But the meeting to have an agreed route is what has been called off.

The Minority, to be joined by some civil society organisations, plans the protest to demand the resignation of the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Ernest Yedu Addison, and his two deputies.

The caucus insists the protest on Tuesday will go ahead as scheduled.

“You can even protest in front of the White House today and people do it on daily basis,” said Minority Chief Whip Governs Kwame Agbodza.

“Is the Bank of Ghana requiring more security than the front of the Flagstaff House, than the front of Parliament?”
