PNC threatens legal action over use of logo for #OccupyBoGProtest

The opposition People’s National Convention (PNC) says it will not participate in the protest against the Governor of the Bank of Ghana and his two deputies scheduled for Tuesday, October 3, 2023.

“The party is issuing a stern warning to the organizers of the protest and demands that they remove the party’s name immediately from their flyer,” a statement issued by General Secretary, Janet Asana Nabla warned.

“The PNC considers the conveners’ decision to include the party on its flyer without first consulting the party as an act of disrespect.

“If this happens once again, the party will bring legal action against the conveners,” it warned on Thursday, September 28.

The demonstration will be led by the Minority in Parliament.

The caucus had given the Governor, Dr Ernest Yedu Addison, 21 days to resign after recording a whopping GH¢60.8 billion in its 2022 financial books.

However, because he has remained in office, the Minority members served notice to march to the head office of the Bank on Tuesday, September 5.

However, this was stopped by the police after they secured a court injunction against the protest.

Another notice to march on Tuesday, September 12 was also shot down by the police until an agreement was reached for the third date on Tuesday, October 3.

Already, the caucus and some of the civil society groups to join, notably Arise Ghana and COPEC, have engaged some members of the community ahead of the march.
