Government Spokesperson on Governance and Security Palgrave Boakye-Danquah has called for restraint on both sides of Parliament following heated exchanges on Wednesday, July 5 between Ablekuma West Member (MP) Ursula Owusu-Ekuful and her Tamale Central colleague Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.
The two lawmakers clashed during the debate on the Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill, popularly known as Anti-gay Bill.
After being referred to by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP as a practitioner of LGBTQI, Mrs Owusu-Ekuful, who is also the Minister of Communications and Digitalisation, called the former Deputy Trade Minister a “mad man”.
She also said all the Minority MPs had lost their sense of hearing to deny hearing what their colleague loudly said about her.
Sit-in Speaker Andrews Amoako Asiamah ordered that incident should be captured in the records, asking the Tamale Central MP to withdraw the comments.

Taking to his Facebook page on Thursday, July 6, Mr Boakye-Danquah, who is seeking to enter Parliament in 2025 on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Abuakwa North Constituency, called for tempers to cool down.
“Let’s parlay respectfully,” he wrote.
