NDC’s National Chairman Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo (2nd left) has the backing of the Council of Elders and the Functional Executive Committee[/caption] The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has denied flatly a publication that its National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, ignored the party’s advice to meet with the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service. “This publication is totally false and that Hon. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo has not dishonoured his own party by meeting with the CID, nor does he intend to do so,” a statement issued by Director of Communications Kakra Essamuah said. Mr Ofosu-Ampofo was invited by the CID on Wednesday for investigations as his name is said to have come up during investigations by the police forensic wing into recent cases of kidnappings and fire outbreaks. But NDC’s Council of Elders said the series of invitations to the National Chairman are an attempt by the Nana Akufo-Addo-led government to intimidate the opposition. The Council dared the CID to arrest Mr Ofosu-Ampofo.

His legal team, after meeting the CID on Thursday, also raised concerns about the latest invitation viz-aviz a previous one regarding a leaked tape. But reports emerged Friday that Mr Ofosu-Ampofo clandestinely met the CID Friday dawn. “On Friday May 10, 2019, the legal team had a meeting with the leadership of the CID,” the statement on Saturday said. “Chairman Ofosu-Ampofo was not in that meeting.” The NDC said its chairman is “a faithful servant of the National Democratic Congress and intends to continue as its Chairman based on the interests of the party”. It urged its supporters and well-meaning Ghanaians to ignore the reports. By Emmanuel Kwame Amoh|3news.com|Ghana ]]>
