The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has declared the head office of the Bank of Ghana a crime scene.

He said in security, anywhere crime is committed is tagged a crime scene.

Therefore, he explained that so far as crime is being perpetrated at the offices of the Central Bank led by its Governor, Dr Ernest Yedu Addison, it will not be out of place to describe that office as a “crime scene”.

Mr Asiedu Nketia cast this insinuation on Tuesday, October 3 when he was addressing protesters at the start of the long-awaited #OccupyBoGProtest.

The goal of the protest is to force the resignation of Dr Addison and his two deputies – Dr Maxwell Opoku-Afari and Elsie Addo Awadzi.

They claimed they have mismanaged the finances of the country, resulting in hyper-inflation and pushing thousands into poverty.

Police have re-routed the course of the demonstration, claiming the offices of the Bank of Ghana is a security zone.

This the NDC National Chairman disagrees with.

He said the police are suffering more than even the protesters and must not be seen as preventing such a good cause.

He, therefore, indicated that if anything untoward happens in the quest by the protesters to present the petition to the Governor, the police will be blamed.

He told the protesters that after the petition is presented to the Governor, everybody should return home.
