NDC will explode if they lose 2024 elections – Ben Ephson

Pollster and Managing Editor of the Daily Dispatch Ben Ephson has predicted a potential collapse of the leading opposition party in Ghana, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), should they lose the 2024 presidential elections.

In an interview with Alfred Ocansey on 3FM Sunrise Morning Show, he opined that considering the current nature of internal politics in the NDC, it will be very explosive for the party should they lose the 2024 election.

“There is a likelihood of the party imploding if they should lose the 2024 election” he predicted.

Ben Ephson was reacting to the five years forecast on Ghana released on April 13 by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), London which tips the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to win the 2024 Presidential Elections.

In the forecast, the EIU stated that the chances of the NDC to win the 2024 election look better with a different candidate other than former President John Mahama.

Ben Ephson, “It’s now Dr. Duffour and Mahama who are the main contenders for the NDC. The last time they had a challenge in the NDC, Mahama won by 94%. People would think they should give him another opportunity and it is something the NDC voters should consider”.

He also advised that the choice of running mate will have a significant role on the chances of the NDC even if former President John Mahama is elected as the candidate of the NDC.

The pollster added that even if Mahama wins the primaries, the running mate would also have a factor in the final winning. He further stated that Professor Naana Opoku Agyemang and Dr. Kwabena Duffour would be very advanced in age by 2028 hence, John Mahama should do the NDC a favor to select a running mate who will be relatively young and have a winning urge in 2028.

He also highlighted the need to win the Central Region and the increasing swing voters if the NDC wants to win the 2024 election. “But will Dr. Duffour and Mahama be ready to attract the floating voters?” he quizzes
