The National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its 2020 flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, have dismissed reports making rounds that a Vice Presidential Candidate has been selected. On Monday, August 19, 3news.com received a hint that Dr Kwesi Botchwey will be named the running mate of Mr Mahama for the 2020 presidential elections. Even January 7, 2020, our sources tabled, was selected as date for the announcement.

But a quick cross-check with the NDC saw the party dissociate from the reports. National Communications Officer Sammy Gyamfi said a running mate for Mr Mahama can only be considered after the parliamentary primaries of the party. The party will hold the primaries on Saturday, August 24. A top member of the National Executive Committee also told 3news.com that the party is unaware of such move. Mr Mahama, who is the leader of the party, tweeted that the news making rounds is fake. He stressed that it is false. https://twitter.com/JDMahama/status/1163521291921612802 The NDC contested the last two elections with the late Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur as the Vice Presidential Candidate. With the demise of the former Vice President, the party will have to get a new face to join forces with Mr Mahama for next year’s polls. Source: 3news.com|Ghana]]>
