The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, Lydia Seyram Alhassan, on Easter Monday, hosted hundreds of students at the University of Ghana, Legon to a joy-filled soiree.

Most of the students, from tertiary institutions within the Constituency, are first-years who spent their Easter holidays on their respective campuses.

Dubbed Easter Fiesta Feast and Games, the students were treated to a variety of food items as well as games including Ludo, Oware, horse-riding and eating competition.

Maa Lydia, as the MP is affectionately called, advised the students to take their studies seriously.

She prayed for more joy, happiness and peace for all as the world marked the death and resurrection of Christ.

“I have done it before. This is about the second time and this particular time my children happen to be on campus. Their calendar didn’t allow them to join their parents and their families.

“So they are here and as their mother, I have always wanted to celebrate with them.

“I want us to have fun together as a family and that is about it.”

Maa Lydia, who is also the Minister-designate for Water and Sanitation, will seek re-election in the December 7 elections.

She is expected to brave resistance from John Setor Dumelo, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate, in order to retain the seat.
