Leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and presidential aspirant, Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong has said that the former Sanitation Minister, Cecilia Abena Dapaah should have known better not to keep a huge amount of money in her house.
He added that as a member a government that seeks to promote the culture of savings, Cecilia Dapaah as a senior public official shouldn’t have kept such an amount of money in the house.
“My disappointment is the fact there was so much money in the household because as a government and public officials, one of our first actions and our focus has been to formalised the economy to encourage people to have a savings culture” he said in an interview with Johnnie Hughes on 3FM Sunrise Morning Show.
Ing. Agyepong explained that though individuals have rights over their own monies, it is not advisable to keep money in the house because one does not have a need for it.
“Even if you don’t have use for your money, others would have a use for the money. Even if it is part of the banking system, that is crucial” Mr. Kwabena Agyapong stressed.
Mr. Agyapong added that his worry is that after the Rawlings regime, it took former president John Kuffour a lot of effort to get people to have trust in the banking system.
“Let us not as political leaders preach one thing and do the other” he admonished.
