A member of the communication team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and a parliamentary aspirant hopeful Kojo Kuranchie has called on the former president to offer policy alternatives in his quest to recapture power in 2024.

Kojo recounted how well the economy was doing until the COVID-19 pandemic and Ukraine-Russia War adversely impacted almost all the gains made by the government as well as its economic projections. He made reference to the freebies government gave out to Ghanaians especially the vulnerable and the loan offered to businesses through NBSCI as part of efforts in bringing relief to Ghanaians.

He questioned the significance of the NDCs COVID-19 technical team and what has become of it since they didn’t profess any solution when the country was struggling through the havoc of COVID-19. He emphasized that if not for Nana Addo’s administration and the prudent management of the economy, COVID-19 would have killed many Ghanaians and destroyed our economy completely.

He reiterated the impact of the Free Senior High School (FSHS) Policy on households and described it as the biggest social intervention in the history of Ghana. Every child now has the hope and access to second-cycle education, it is refreshing to know how first-class SHSs and the most revered schools are now opened to even our rural folks, he said.

It is sad to say the least when JM and his NDC downplay the relevance of digitalization on our economy and nation-building. He mentioned the paperless port synchronization, the integration of DVLA, passport acquisition, Mobile Money Interoperability among others into the various digitalization platforms. They all seek to ensure maximization of revenue, block the many loopholes and address middlemen and corruption, he said.

He further stressed that all these interventions are meant to better the lives of Ghanaians and this is a clear testimony of selfless leadership demonstrated by Nana Addo. He reiterated that any attempt to change the political leadership of the country will only mean a truncation of the many social interventions introduced by the president.

Mr. Kuranchie said that the current Domestic Debt Exchange Program was a hard decision by the government but it is a necessary evil which seeks to normalize our current economic condition. The government on a daily basis appreciates the hardship we are facing as a country. As a listening government, he said the government and his team are working towards addressing the concerns and sooner than later, Ghanaians will see relief as we were enjoying until the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and Ukraine-Russia War.

Mr. Kuranchie is urging the rank and file of the party to remain resolute behind the party and government in these difficult times. He again advised all party members who are vying for positions to conduct their campaign in a decent manner such that post-election unity talk will be easy. He admonished that any dirty campaign will be used by their political opponents and detractors if care is not taken. He underscored that there is no point in destroying fellow aspirants in the quest to lead the constituency or the party, the damage may be irreversible, especially with the use of social media.

He urged his constituents, the people of Bortianor-Ngleshie-Amanfrom a constituency located in the Ga South Municipal District of the Greater Accra Region to watch out for the best and work to support a candidate who has their interest and development at heart. He said development is coming and that they should resist any attempt to divert their attention from the good leadership and developments that BNAC is about to witness. Kojo highlighted that as someone with vast experience in the corporate circle and business environment, he will bring development to the people of the constituency at this crucial moment in the life of the constituency.

He emphasized that the only way of showing appreciation for the good works as demonstrated by the NPP is an overwhelming endorsement in the 2024 December polls. He is appealing to all NPP supporters and sympathizers to get to the ground and work in ensuring victory for the party.

He finally advised all well-meaning Ghanaians to ignore the ugly and empty noises being heralded by their political opponents and detractors and keep their focus on the development agenda started by the NPP government.

Mr Kuranchie who is vying for the Bortianor-Ngleshie-Amanfrom Constituency seat on the ticket of the NPP made these comments on Wontumi Radio on a political show dubbed Ghana Nti.
