Former President John Dramani Mahama has said the time has come for a new direction in terms of the political leadership of the country.

He stated that Ghanaians are tired of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

To that end, he said, the people of Assin North should make a bold statement in the by-election on Tuesday, June 27 and vote for the National Democratic Congress’ candidate James Gyakye Quayson.

“Let us make a bold statement with this election. Ghanaians are tired of Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP.

“It is time for a new direction and a brighter future for our country. Together, let us make it happen,” he said in a statement.

Below is his full statement…

I arrived in Accra early this morning after a successful round of community durbars in various parts of the Assin North constituency and a mini vigil held later at Assin Breku.

I sincerely thank the chiefs, religious leaders, my party leaders and supporters, and the people of Assin North for your unwavering support and dedication towards the NDC’s campaign.

The hard work and commitment that has gone into this by-election campaign have not gone unnoticed, and I am truly grateful for all the efforts.

As we head into the election tomorrow, Tuesday, I encourage you to queue up early to vote. Do not let anything deter you from exercising your right to vote. Your vote is your voice, and you must make it count.

Remember to vote No. 3 for James Gyakye Quayson. He is the right candidate for the job and will work hard to represent you and your interests. Let us reaffirm our strong support for and belief in James Gyakye Quayson and the NDC for the development of Assin North.

Let us make a bold statement with this election. Ghanaians are tired of Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP. It is time for a new direction and a brighter future for our country. Together, let us make it happen.

Let us unite and work together towards Building the Ghana we want.
