The Tamale Magistrate Court has slapped a GH¢3,600 fine each on the former Northern Region Deputy Communications Director of the NDC, Hardi Pagazaa, and his accomplice, Mumuni Osman, for assaulting a radio presenter of Dagbon FM, Sadiq Gariba.

The two pleaded guilty to all four counts of conspiracy to commit a crime to wit assault, assault, unlawful entry, and threat of death.

The prosecution later withdrew the fourth count of threat of death.

Defence lawyer Halid Rauf prayed for a non-custodial sentence for his clients, a plea the court accepted, resulting in the fine.

If they default the fine of 300 penalty units each, which amounts to GH¢3,600, the accused persons will serve 18 months in prison.

The two have since paid the fine and have been released, according to lawyer Halid Rauf.
