Bawumia promises community mining for Obuasi West residents

Flagbearer of the NPP Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has promised the people of Obuasi West of setting up community mining schemes when voted into power.

The community mining schemes, according to the NPP flagbearer will ensure that miners in the Obuasi enclave engage in responsible mining.

He was addressing party supporters at Obuasi West constituency on November 12. Obuasi is predominantly a mining community.

Addressing party faithful, Dr Bawumia said “We are bringing a new arrangement, community mining schemes, areas where the whites are not using, we will negotiate with them and then begin to use it. We are going to allow the Geological Survey Authority to show us where the minerals are then we will set up the community mining schemes in those areas.”

He added that, ” We are bringing the Minerals Development Bank that will help you procure equipment to do proper mining. We are going to do responsible mining, and this will help you to get more money and become millionaires.”

In a related development, the flagbearer has pointed out that despite the current global challenges, the NPP has performed better than the NDC.

He said the NPP government has created more jobs and industries than the NDC government.

“Notwithstanding COVID and other crisis, every sector of the economy we have performed better than the NDC. We have created more jobs, we have built more roads, more railway, more airports, more schools, more hospitals, more libraries, more sanitation facilities, more jobs, more industry. More factories, more zongo development, all of that. Every sector of the economy, we have done more than the NDC,” Dr Bawumia assured..
