Akufo-Addo tagged ‘a walking contradiction’ in corruption fight

President Nana Akufo-Addo (R) has vowed to root out corruption with the setting up of the Office of the Special Prosecutor
A member of the Communications Team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has described the president, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo as a “walking contradiction” as regards the fight against corruption. “He is a total disappointment,” Israel Venunye stressed to Bright Asempa on Onua FM’s Yen Nsempa on Monday. Mr Venunye was commenting on the exposé by investigative journalists Anas Aremeyaw Anas, particularly on the mention of the names of the President, Vice President and other government officials by main actor Kwesi Nyantakyi. He claims Mr Nyantakyi has been known in the past to introduce investors to the president. Therefore, the matter of the former President of the Ghana Football Association mentioning the names of the first and second gentleman in the documentary should not be left to go away. “The President must subject himself to credible investigations,” he demanded. According to him, in the past when names of persons have been mentioned in scandals of similar nature, they are sanctioned. He cited how the erstwhile John Mahama-led government had cracked the whip on appointees embroiled in graft cases. “In this case,” the NDC member pointed out, “persons who have been alleged to have engaged in corruption, the president is at the forefront to clear them.” Matter-of-factly, President Akufo-Addo reported Mr Nyantakyi to the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, which has since been looking into the issue. READ: Kwesi Nyantakyi only cautioned so far by CID ‘Bawumia is a total disappointment’ Interspersing his interview with Onua FM’s medium of transmission, Twi, Mr Venunye had uncharitable words for the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia. He described him as unintelligent and a total disappointment. Alluding to a tweet by former President John Mahama, the NDC man said Dr Bawumia is losing credibility as the exchange rates is already exposing the government. Source: editors.3news.com|Ghana
