Akufo-Addo has been so much tolerant & patient to Adwoa Safo – Dome-Kwabenya NPP

The Dome-Kwabenya Constituency Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has backed the decision by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to relieve Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo of her ministerial role.

Theophilus Ansah Larbi said the attitude and character put up by the MP come as a surprise to the party in the Constituency though they sympathise with her in any situation she may find herself in.

Speaking on The Keypoints on TV3/3FM on Saturday, July 30, Mr Ansah Larbi said a politician of Adwoa Safo’s calibre would not exhibit the behaviour she is putting up as she has not been fair not only to herself but also to the party and the constituency.

He praised President Akufo-Addo for the tolerance and patience he has shown over the issues, expressing unflinching support for the latest decision.

“The party supports the President in whichever decision he has taken,”he told host Alfred Ocansey.

“The party is fully behind our leadership in Parliament to make sure the party moves on,” he added, stopping short of indicating whether they support the decision by the Majority members on the Privileges Committee to get their seat declared vacant or not.

Mr Ansah Larbi said the sacked Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection could have managed the situation well.

“If you have challenges you deem to be private or personal, you manage it to be a win-win affair. You don’t manage it for the party to suffer.”

He stressed how the party needed the numbers in the near-hang Eighth Parliament.

Adwoa Safo has not been seen in Parliament since she was accused of being impersonated to make up the numbers for the Majority in 2021.

She has expressed commitment to the creed and ideals of the party, pouring out eternal gratitude to President Akufo-Addo.

However, on Thursday, July 28, she was relieved of her ministerial role by the president.
