The Takoradi District Court at Market Circle has remanded into police custody, Detective Corporal Adjei Shaibu on suspicion of shooting to death an 18 year old boy and injuring another, 22. Mr. Shaibu is alleged to have committed the act on Friday , December 22. Handcuffed and flanked by police detectives, he looked somber and keen on avoiding the lenses of the media. Prosecutor, Inspector B. P. Ahensan prayed the court to be given two weeks to allow investigations to be completed and to also seek advice from the Attorney General. The defence lawyer, Edmund Acquah Arhin however argued for his client to be given bail as he had already spent about five days in police custody, but his argument was not accepted. The judge, Thomas Offedie therefore adjourned the case to January 12, 2018. It will be recalled that a final year student of the Ghana Secondary Technical School was shot to death and another injured at Nyankrom in the Shama district on their way to the Shama junction for a concert. Three other managed to escape, who are pointing to Detective Corporal Shaibu as the culprit. Shaibu has strongly denied the allegation. By Shirley Ewurama Smith | 3news.com ]]>
