Police grab three in V/R over recruitment fraud

The Volta Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service has arrested three persons in Akatsi for defrauding victims, promising to assist them to be enlisted into the Service.

The arrest was made on Tuesday, September 14, Public Affairs Officer of the Command DSP Effia Tenge said in a statement on Wednesday, September 15.

The three arrested are Bernard Amenya, 18, Godsway Adzika, 23, and Godson Wemegah, 21.

“The arrest, on 14 September 2021 follows a fraudulent Facebook publication purported to have been created by the Volta Regional Police Commander, DCOP Mr Edward Oduro Kwarteng, advertising to assist potential applicants to be enlisted into the Ghana Police Service.”

Preliminary investigation revealed that many victims have paid various sums of money to the fraudsters with the hope of being favoured on the ongoing recruitment exercise.

The Command reiterated that it is not responsible for recruiting persons into the Service.
