Police Tuesday afternoon were forced to fire warning shots to scare irate youth of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the party’s constituency office in Talensi in the Upper East Region.
The youth were said to have been irked by a suspected gun attack near their office by another group said to be connected to the Azorka Boys of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Our reporter said the police’s warning shots have calmed tempers.
But TV3’s Daniel Lartey and Rabiu Tanko Mohammed added that a car belonging to the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Nabdam, an adjoining city to Talensi, was destroyed by the angry NPP youth – believed to be the widely known Invisible Forces of the party.

According to an aide to the NPP candidate in the Talensi by-election, the vehicle of the Nabdam DCE was seen following the one used by the Azorka boys, whom he accused of firing 12 rounds of bullets in the direction of the NPP constituency office.
He told TV3’s Daniel Lartey that they decided to destroy the DCE’s vehicle in reaction to the action of the NDC supporters since the joint police-military contingent present appeared unconcerned.
