Police arrest robbers on Sawla-Tuna-Kalba road

Police in the Savannah Region have arrested two suspected armed robbers in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District. According to a police report, the two suspects – Mustapha Mumuni, 23, and Ali Bukari, 20 – were spotted by the Operation Conquer Fist at about 4:00pm on Wednesday, September 18 at a spot on the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba road, where armed robbery has been rampant for some time now. “Suspects Mustapha Mumuni and Ali Bukari on a black Asponic Auroba motor bike with registration no. M-19-UW-5099 on seeing the Police sped off from the spot where some motorists were robbed on Monday, September 16. “They were given a chase and were arrested. A search conducted on them on the spot revealed assorted monies in separate wraps in their pockets but they could not quote the exact amount on them, five mobile phones made up of four Tecnos, one Infinix,” the report read. Northern Regional Police Pubic Relations Officer DSP Mohammed Yussif Tanko, who signed the police report, noted the suspects were immediately taken to their places of abode at Tuna and Gindabour respectively for further searches. Suspect Ali Bukari took the police to his thatched house at Tuna and a search conducted in his room revealed a Jack knife, a dagger, a Go To Hell metal, two pairs of motorbike mirrors, two mobile phones and two covers, an ear piece and a metal whip. The police were later at the house of suspect, Mustapha Mumuni, but nothing was found. They were then escorted to the District Commander’s office for further investigation. “At the District Commander’s office, the monies were counted and it amounted to 939.00 cedis.” It was detected  that the Infinix Note3 Pro has pictures of one Abass Gumah of Bole who on September 13 reported to the Police in Bole of having been robbed of an of amount GH¢10,251 and his Infinix Note3 Pro. Abass Gumah, who was invited to the police station after the arrest, identified the suspects as the same people who robbed him of his property. “The description of the suspects given by the various victims of highway robbery attacks perfectly fit that of the suspects,” the police further stated in its report.
