Deputy General Secretary of the People’s National Convention, Prosper Kwao, says Ghanaians should stop making fun of his party’s flagbearer, Hassan Ayariga, since past leaders of the country have also made similar errors.

Prosper Kwao was speaking to TV 3’s Wendy Laryea in a phone interview on Midday Live regarding the mockery of some Ghanaians on Ayariga’s delivery during the Institute of economic Affairs’ Presidential Debate in Tamale.

He cited former presidents John Agyekum Kufour and late John Evans Atta Mills as leaders who made mistakes in speeches.

“Former president [John] Kufour once referred to Ghana as his company, how can a president do that?” he asked.

”Even the late president John Evans Atta Mills could not mention ‘economy’ well,” he added.

He explained that his party’s flagbearer’s only drawback was that  he did not take his time to explain issues because he was more interested in the content.

He gave Hassan Ayariga full marks for his performance in Tamale.

“Our presidential candidate did very well,” he graded.

“His performance was not abysmal at all.”
