Parliament approves John Dumelo, Apaak, and Ampem Nyarko as Deputy Ministers

Parliament has given its approval for the appointment of six new deputy ministers and one minister of state to support key government portfolios.

The approved nominees include John Dumelo as Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture, Clement Apaak as Deputy Minister for Education, Thomas Ampem Nyarko as Deputy Minister for Finance, and Samson Ahi as Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry.

The confirmation follows a vetting process where the nominees presented their visions and strategies for their respective ministries.

John Dumelo – Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture

John Dumelo, an actor, entrepreneur, and politician, has been tasked with assisting in the development of Ghana’s agricultural sector. His appointment is expected to boost agribusiness and support initiatives that benefit farmers and the food production industry.

Clement Apaak – Deputy Minister for Education

Dr. Clement Apaak, a long-time advocate for education and Member of Parliament for Builsa South, has been confirmed as the Deputy Minister for Education. With his background in academia, he is expected to contribute to policies aimed at improving Ghana’s education system.

Thomas Ampem Nyarko – Deputy Minister for Finance

Thomas Ampem Nyarko, the MP for Asuogyaman, will assist the Finance Ministry in managing Ghana’s economic policies, budget planning, and financial strategies to ensure fiscal stability and economic growth.

Samson Ahi – Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness & Industry

Samson Ahi, a seasoned politician and MP for Bodi, takes up the role of Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry. His focus will be on strengthening Ghana’s trade policies, promoting local industries, and enhancing agribusiness opportunities.

Parliament also approved the following nominees:

– Lydia Lamisi Akanvariba, Minister of State, Public Sector Reforms

– Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi, Deputy Minister for the Interior

– Richard Gyan-Mensah, Deputy Minister for Energy and Green Transition

The approval of these deputies is expected to strengthen the government’s efforts in critical sectors, enhancing governance and national development.
