Parliament approves Dzifa Gomashie, Opare-Addo and Emelia Arthur

Parliament has approved Minister-designate for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Minister-designate for Youth Empowerment and Development George Opare-Addo and Emelia Arthur, Minister-designate for Fisheries and Aquaculture.

The House approved them on Thursday, January 23 after a debate, pending their swearing-in by the President Mahama.

All three ministers were vetted by the Appointments Committee on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.

Likewise, the House earlier approved Ahmed Ibrahim Minister designated for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Minister designated to Gender, Children and Social Protection, and Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Minister designated for Trade and Industry.

This brings the number of approved ministers to 12 as six were approved on Tuesday, January 21 and have been sworn-in already.

The Appointments Committee continues to vet President Mahama’s ministerial nominees for further approval.

The Committee today, January 23 begun the vetting of Regional Ministers. The Northern Regional Minster-designate, Ali Adolf, Oti Regional Minister-designate, John Kwadwo Agyapong and Volta Regional Minister-designate, James Gunu have so far been vetted.
