The North Tongu Member of Parliament, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has said that some of his colleagues on the other side of the aisle support his stance against the sale of four hotels belonging to the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).
He is, however, unable to disclose their names.

Mr Ablakwa said this in an interview with Onua News Akua Sarpomaa during the ‘Hands off our hotels’ demo on June 18.

“Many members of Parliament of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) have thrown their support behind me to fight against the sale of the SSNIT hotels Bryan Acheampong intends to purchase through his company, Rock City Hotel,” he disclosed.

Mr Ablakwa stated that “even some of the NPP MPs are not happy about the idea of selling the hotels, but they are afraid to talk publicly, and it’s not appropriate to mention their names.”
He asked, “why is that the hotels that are helping Ghana by making profits and paying tax must be sold to one person? No. we won’t allow that”.
He quizzed, “If the MP for Abetifi Constituency has an idea to manage a hotel, why can’t he share the idea with cabinet since he’s a cabinet minister, but want to buy before he applies his ideas? Then why should we pay him as cabinet minister?”
