Some grassroots of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are calling on a deputy Communications Officer of the party, Ernest Owusu-Bempah to contest as National Organiser to enable the party to recapture power in the 2028 general elections.
Kwasi Awuah, a grassroot of the party highlighted the attributes of Owusu-Bempah including his fearlessness which, in his view, can help the NPP withstand any intimidation tactics from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“I have heard that Owusu-Bempah is going to contest, if he contests that will be good news for the NPP because when we were in opposition the previous time he was one of the people who fought for the NPP to regain power in 2016 elections. He and Sammi Awuku, David Asante formed the Let My Votes Count Alliance and fought for the NPP to come to power,
“He was a key voice behind Akufo-Addo, after that, he helped form AFAG and when the NPP came to power, he also formed the Fixing the Country Movement and advocated for government policies. He is a political strategist, his bold stance, his communication skills and his fearless posture to stand the NDC and deal with the NDC are all attributes we need. we also remember him for bringing up the issue of the Airbus.
“All these make him the best one as a National Organiser who can bring the NPP to power., if only he will contest we the grassroots will support him,” he told editors.3news.com.
Earlier, some political analysts also indicated a person of Owusu-Bempah’s calibre would be ideal for the position of National Organiser, as the NPP rebuilds ahead of the 2028 general elections following the party’s heavy defeat in the 2024 polls.
He also highlighted Owusu-Bempah’s exploits with the Fixing the Country Movement, Let My Vote Count Alliance and other pressure group and his strategic skills and qualities in communications as a plus for NPP’s future.
“Ernest Owusu-Bempah is a straightforward person, very articulate, bold and fearless. We know the role he has played in Ghana’s politics, his role in the Let My Vote Count Alliance.
“As the NPP seeks to rebuild following the heavy defeat in 2024, having him at the leadership level of the party will serve them well, Mr Ntow told editors.3news.com.
