National Youth Authority boss assures youth of employment opportunities regardless of party colours

Mr Osman Ayariga

Chief Executive Officer, of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Osman Ayariga, has said that he is committed and dedicated to driving President Mahama’s vision for Ghana’s youth by beating down the soaring unemployment rate in the country.

In an interview with Johnnie Hughes on 3FM Sunrise on March 19, he stated his commitment to prioritizing youth development according to the NDC policy agenda while calling on the youth to leverage their policies.

“Take advantage of President Mahama’s key policies like the ‘adwumawura’, National Entrepreneurship, and the ‘Nkukor nkitinkiti’ initiatives,” the CEO urged.

He further indicated that youth in Ghana, despite their party colours, will be empowered to be financially independent.

“The National Entrepreneurship Program will be launched soon and any youth who wants to learn any trade under the program qualifies. It’s not for party folks and is free for all within the youth age.”

In ensuring decentralization and efficiency of the initiative, the CEO promised to make “forms for the National Entrepreneurship Program available in every district. A dashboard and a monitoring and evaluation system will be created to erase duplicity of employment”. Osman Ayariga stated.

President John Mahama, during the 2024 general elections among other campaign promises, announced plans to introduce a National Apprenticeship Scheme to combat unemployment.

Then candidate Mahama stated that providing robust technical and vocational training for individuals who missed out on educational opportunities will help reduce unemployment, which is the purpose of the National Entrepreneurship Program (National Apprenticeship Scheme).
