The New Patriotic Party’s Vice-Presidential Candidate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has praised the leadership of the party within the Akwatia Constituency for uniting ahead of the upcoming elections.
Addressing chiefs, Muslim community and party supporters at Akyem Wenchi and Topremang in the Akwatia Constituency, Dr. Opoku Prempeh observed that divisions within the constituency affected the party in the last elections and that he was happy to see all the divided factions coming together and pledging to win the parliamentary seat back for the New Patriotic Party.
Wrapping up his week-long campaign tour of the Eastern Region, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh visited the Akwatia Constituency, once an NPP stronghold which went to the NDC in the 2020 elections.
“The NPP in Akwatia Constituency stands united and determined to reclaim the seat from the NDC. This sentiment resonates strongly among the rank and file of the party,” he said.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh appealed to the people and the stakeholders to rally solidly behind Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Ernest Kumi, and the NPP, urging them to campaign for them in market squares, offices, and every corner of human settlement.
He emphasized the NPP’s commitment to empowering youth, praising Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the best candidate to tackle Ghana’s challenges. Dr. Prempeh urged voters to support the NPP in the 2024 polls, ensuring continuity of its developments.
Addressing a durbar of chiefs and people, NAPO expressed his disappointment with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and their flagbearer, former President John Mahama, who have suggested that Dr. Bawumia does not deserve the presidency.
He stressed the need to promote unity and to eschew divisive sentiments that can fracture our society. According to NAPO, the strength of Ghana lies in its diversity, and it is crucial to embrace this unity as we move towards the future.
The Parliamentary Candidate, Ernest Kumi pledged his commitment to continuity in developments. He said division has cost the party in so many ways in the constituency, but they are united this time to capture the lost seat.
Meanwhile, former MP for Akwatia, Mercy Adu Gyamfi (Ama Sey) said she will not be distracted by unfounded allegations against her by some people within the constituency. She pledged her full commitment to ensuring victory for the NPP in the December 7 elections.
