The Naro Women’s Wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Nadowli-Kaleo Constituency of the Upper West Region is calling for the unanimous confirmation of Madam Mary Haruna as the only Female District Chief Executive (DCE) nominee.

The women’s wing praised Madam Mary Haruna’s dedication, hard work, and leadership, citing her nomination as a testament to her capabilities.

“In light of this, we respectfully appeal to the Honorable Assembly Members of the Nadowli-Kaleo District to do the needful by giving Madam Mary Haruna a 100 per cent confirmation. Such overwhelming endorsement will demonstrate our collective unity and support for the vision of inclusiveness and empowerment championed by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama”, spokesperson mentioned.

Addressing journalists during a press conference at Naro on Thursday, April 10, 2025, the Spokesperson of the group, Faara Ernestina, commended President John Dramani Mahama for recognizing and empowering grassroots women leaders through nominations like Madam Haruna’s.

“This gesture has not only uplifted Madam Mary Haruna but has also brought immense pride to the entire Nadowil-Kaleo Women’s Wing,” she stated.

Faara Ernestina added that the move aligns with the party’s vision of inclusiveness and empowerment, as outlined in their “Resetting Ghana” Manifesto.

The women’s wing trusts that Madam Haruna will serve with excellence, integrity, and the community’s best interests at heart.

The NDC has been promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment, with President Mahama pledging to increase women’s representation in leadership roles. The party’s Women’s wing plays a crucial role in advocating for women’s rights and supporting female leaders like Madam Haruna.
