Muslims across the country have marked this years Eid Ul Fitr with prayers, thanking Allah for his mercies and taking them through the period of Ramadam.

Today’s activities which includes prayers brings an end to a month long period of fasting. They prayed for the country and its economy and also for the leadership and government to steer the affairs of the country in the right direction.

Prayers were also said for the peace and security of Ghana which President John Mahama had earlier urged them to do. The president also encouraged the Muslims to celebrate in moderation so as no accidents would be recorded.

Good will messages have been pouring in for the Moslems especially from the leadership of the various political parties. Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo wished them well and pleaded for prayers to be said for the 2016 general elections.

Former President Jerry Rawlings also asked that prayers be said for the protection and peace of the nation to see improved development.

Over the years, accidents have been recorded during such celebrations due to disregard of rules governing the use of roads. It is on the back of this that the Police Service has served notice that it would deal with any ‘recalcitrant’ road users who flout these regulations.

The Police has also indicated that it will provide adequate protection for all and sundry during this period and wished the Muslims a Happy Eid-Ul Fitr.
