Moroccan Ambassador promises investment in Ashanti region

The ambassador with the Otumfuo[/caption] The Moroccan ambassador to Ghana, Mohammed Farahat, says bilateral relations between Ghana and Morocco will further be strengthened to enable the two countries benefit from each other. He stated that Morocco will continue to share experiences and support Ghana in critical areas of the economy. Mr. Farahat said this when he paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi over the weekend. “Morocco intends to contribute to the economic development of the Ashanti region through edifying projects in renewable energy, agriculture, affordable housing and education some of which has seen a facelift,” he said. According to him, the visit of the King of Morocco, His Majesty Mohammed VI to Ghana last year saw the launch of major multi-sectorial cooperation projects whose fruits have sprouted well and promise a better future. The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, entreated the Moroccan Ambassador to further strengthen the bilateral relationship between the two countries to promote economic growth. Otumfuo called on Morocco to help Ghana transform the economy through the area of technology since they are well advanced in that area. “I know you are doing well in the area of technology. I saw how you do your things when I visited the King of Morocco, His Majesty Mohammed VI. I am expecting you to tell him to bring that here in my country”, he said. Otumfuo Osei Tutu II pointed out that though Morocco has supported Ghana’s educational system by providing scholarships for Ghanaians, he is looking forward to see that replicated in other areas. He said the people of Ashanti region and Morocco could also establish cultural ties to make the people from the two countries understand each other, pointing out that Moroccans could visit the country to enjoy the Ghanaian hospitality. The Moroccan Ambassador who expressed gratitude to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for the audience said he will work to promote the excellent bilateral relations between Morocco and Ghana.
