Ministerial vetting: Afenyo-Markin’s questions can be confusing sometimes – Suhuyini

The Deputy Minister of Roads and Highways-desigante, Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini has accused the Ranking Member of the Committee, Alexander Afenyo-Markin of mostly asking questions with no clear direction in mind.

In an interview with 3FM, Johnnie Hughes on February 6, he argued that “the Minority Leader has been winding with his questioning and sometimes seems confused.”

He also alleged that “the committee is being used for political banter and to score political points.”

The three-term legislator meanwhile called for consensus-building among members as the way forward.

“The Chair and members of the committee need to work on being more collaborative because Ghanaians are angry with the kind of conduct we are seeing. It’s been fairly good, but we can do better.” He stated.

Since its first sitting to vet President Mahama’s ministerial nominees, the Appointment Committee has been characterized by unnecessary disagreements and chaos, with many Ghanaians accusing members of being over-partisan.
