The Chief Executive of the National Health Insurance Authority, Dr Bernard Okoe Boye has won the Ledzorkuku constituency primary of the New Patriotic Party.

He polled 901, while Nii Ashitey Ollennu had 357 while Ibrahim Adjei had 180 votes.

After being disallowed to contest the NPP parliamentary primaries of Asawase in 2019, Manaf Ibrahim has come back stronger to win the primaries with 765 votes.

His closest contender who happens to be the Ashanti regional treasurer and MASLOC regional manager, Hajia Zainab Sallow pulled 231 votes.

An uncle of Manaf, Yussif Osman who joined the race secured 9 votes.

Manaf, a former director of political affairs at the presidency says he remain resolute in his quest to win the seat for the party in Asawase for the first time.

“It is not good for the image of NPP to continue losing the Asawase seat. We must win it this time and to do this I will need the support of all. The elections are over and now is the time to be united and fight the battle”, he said after the EC officially announced him as the parliamentary candidate elect for NPP in Asawase.

Leadership of the party in the constituency earlier asked the three aspirants to pledge their support to whoever the delegates decide to represent them in 2024.

After the declaration, both Hajia Zainab and Yussif promised to leave behind their differences and work together to unseat the five-time Member of Parliament for Asawase, Muntaka Mubarak.

The battle line has now been drawn and Manaf will have to face off with Muntaka in the 2024 parliamentary elections.
