Mahama courts support of international community to complete Agenda 111

President John Dramani Mahama is courting the support of the international community to partner government to complete the stalled Agenda 111 Hospitals project started by the previous administration.

The President is on record to have said his government needs US$1.7 billion to complete the project.

Speaking at the presentation of letters of credentials from 5 newly appointed envoys to serve as Ambassadors in Ghana, Wednesday, March 12, 2025, John Mahama said his government will be key on private partnerships in the provision of essentials in sectors like health care delivery.

“The previous government started a huge project in healthcare, building more than a hundred hospitals and somehow we are stuck because they spent a lot of money and not been able to operationalise any of them.

“So we are looking to have some cooperation with the private sector or any entrepreneurs that are into health hospitals management to finish those hospitals and manage them over a period of time in collaboration with the Ghana Health Service (GHS) so that’s an area that’s open [for collaboration],” he stated.

The 5 envoys who presented their Letters of Credence to President Mahama at the seat of government include Laura Ranalli, Ambassador of the Republic of Italy, Julio Enrique Pujol Torres, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba and Musu Jatu Ruhle, Ambassador of the Republic of Liberia.
