The outgoing Chief of Defence Staff, Vice Admiral Seth Amoama has charged the leadership of the Ghana Armed Forces to eschew the tendency to consumed in their positions at the detriment of the job.

He said they must use their positions to ensure that their jobs are done in a manner that guarantees the nation, the needed security.

“Leadership is not about the rank you hold. It’s about the lives you touch and the legacies you leave. In service, we find purpose but in leadership we inspire greatness. And so officers, I implore you to be committed to your leadership responsibilities.

I also urge the warrant officers and senior NCO’s who are the backbone of the military, to translate the intention of commanders into actions and then to the soldiers, the sailors and airmen, I urge you to learn work and train hard to carry out all orders and task to the best of your abilities.  That way, our arm forces can continue to stay focused and effectively deal with the myriads of threats that confront our nation,” the retired CDS said on February 1 at a pulling out ceremony to mark the end of his forty years career as a soldier.

In furtherance of this charge, he urged them to accord the in-coming CDS, the necessary support to enable him to succeed during his tenure.

“I would like to ask you to extend the same loyalty and support to General Thomas Oppong-Peprah to continue to lift high the image of the Ghana Armed Forces and finally, I wish to convey my immense gratitude to my family for their understanding and support.

I want to specially thank my wife Victoria and appreciate her for her immeasurable contribution to my success. I always thank God for blessing me with such a beautiful, loving, caring and an understanding woman. Above all, she is my greatest prayer warrior. I will not have made it this far without her support and prayers,” he concluded.
