Komenda Sugar Factory to resume operations before year end – Alan

Minister of Trade and Industry Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen has given a firm assurance that the Komenda Sugar Factory in the Central Region will resume operations before the end of this year.

He said government is in the process of finalising agreements with the strategic partner, Park Agrotech Limited, whose conditions precedent are likely to be accepted in August.

Answering a question by Member of Parliament for Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem (KEEA) Constituency Samuel Atta Mills on why the factory, set up in 2016, was still closed despite the selection of a strategic partner, Mr Kyerematen expressed hope that the factory will be back on stream by the close of 2021.

“The Ministry of Trade and Industry working in collaboration with its transaction advisor Pricewaterhouse Coopers Ghana Limited is in the process of concluding the conditions precedent for the activation of the concession agreement with the selected strategic partner, Park Agrotech Ltd, to commence operations at the Komenda Sugar Factory.”
