National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi AdamsThe National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams, has expressed optimism that the party will come back to power in 2020 with former President John Dramani Mahama as the leader. He claims the Nana Akufo-Addo-led government has failed Ghanaians and that the former President has a huge support base, which will catapult him to victory come 2020. Speaking on 3FM’s morning show, Sunrise, the National Orgainizer said, “I can say that we will be having [former] President Mahama back in 2021 in this country considering the huge support he is enjoying and the failure of this current government”. Former President John Dramani Mahama had made a subtle declaration of his intention to contest NDC’s presidential primaries and many have been questioning if his comeback will be a good move for the party. Kofi Adams said he was not surprised the former President has hinted of a comeback. “Clearly, let me confess as an individual, as a person, I am not surprised that former President John Dramani Mahama will give such indication,” he noted. He was, however, quick to add that John Mahama’s comments were not definite so “we cannot over celebrate or even celebrate about it yet”. “He says sooner rather than later and so I would wish that the sooner was known. Unfortunately, it’s not today so we still will have to wait for that soon to come,” he added. He indicated that he was happy reading the former President’s post because it gave a positive impression that John Mahama will be back “to restore the hope and confidence” Ghanaians have been yearning for. He said even though he has not done an analysis of the entire executive of the NDC, he can feel the anxiety among Ghanaians yearning to having John Mahama back. He cited the funeral of veteran actor Super OD, an event at which “virtually everybody there went agog for hearing that His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama will be joining the mourners,” Mr Adams claimed. He further claimed that Mr Mahama has for the past six months been receiving “huge endorsements and calls on him not to disappoint Ghanaians”, stating that, “more than 95% of NDC members, loyalists will be very happy about this indication”. He said from his personal assessment from the public, he does not feel anybody will not be happy with Mahama’s indication he will be coming back. By P.D Wedam|editors.3news.com|GhanaFollow @3Newsgh
