Ken Agyapong calls for unity at NPP Minority workshop

Kennedy Agyapong

Ken Ohene Agyapong, former Member of Parliament for Assin Central and one of the New Patriotic Party’s most seasoned political figures, addressed the just-ended NPP Minority Caucus Workshop held at the Rock City Hotel in Kwahu.

Speaking to the 88-member NPP Minority in Parliament, Hon. Ken commended the caucus for their commitment and performance during the first meeting of the 9th Parliament. He reminded them of the critical role they play in shaping the image and future of the party.

Drawing on his over two decades of experience in Parliament, Hon. Agyapong outlined the three essential duties of a parliamentarian — chamber work, committee work, and constituency engagement. He urged the caucus not to take any of these for granted, stressing that effectiveness in all three areas was crucial for personal growth and for restoring public confidence in the party.

With a measured and reflective tone that marked a noticeable shift from his usual fiery delivery, Agyapong encouraged the MPs to embrace unity and discipline as the foundation for victory in 2028. He shared insights from his work on the Defense and Interior Committee and used personal anecdotes to highlight the value of consistency, humility, and strategic thinking in public service.

Observers described his 30-minute speech as one of the most composed and thoughtful interventions of the workshop, signaling what many are calling “the new Ken” — experienced, introspective, and still very much a force within the party.
