The Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) on Wednesday called off its 11-day-old strike.
JUSAG declared strike on Friday, May 20 over their consolidated salaries, a grievance they claimed has been on government’s negotiating table since last year.
The strike brought activities of the judicial service to a halt. A number of court cases have had to be postponed because there were no judicial service workers to supervise activities at the court.
The striking workers were scheduled to resume negotiations on Wednesday, June 1, for further instruction on the wayforward.
But at a press conference in Accra on Wednesday, JUSAG President Alex Nartey indicated that the leadership has made progress in getting their request met.
He explained that a framework has been concluded with the Employment and Labour Relations Minister, Haruna Iddrisu to have their concerns addressed.
He therefore called on all JUSAG members to resume work immediately as negotiation continues.
“It has become necessary to appeal to all members of the Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana and workers of the judicial service to resume work immediately,” he announced.
