On Day 1 of #OccupyJulorbiHouse protest, all those who showed up were picked up

The police have picked up all persons who showed up at the 37 lorry station Thursday morning apparently to join the planned demonstration at the Jubilee House.

Before the action, the police had warned the public not to honour any calls to join the protest march to the seat of government.

But leaders of Democracy Hub, organisers of the three-day picketing, had called the bluff of the police, insisting the protest will go ahead as scheduled.

They had adduced that the supposed application filed at the High Court by the Accra Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service had not been served them.

The police, in a last-minute warning, clarified that the service was done on Tuesday, September 19 through the organisers’ lawyers, Atuguba & Associates.

“We, therefore, urge the general public in the interest of public order and public safety to disregard any invitation by the organisers to take part in any unlawful demonstration,” the police warned in its statement on Wednesday night.

But the protesters showed up at the converging point Thursday morning.

They were rounded up into a waiting police bus.

editors.3news.com gathers they are being sent to the Command for prosecution.
