On the Johnnie’s Bite segment on 3FM’s Sunrise Show, host of the segment John Hughes touched on issues surrounding Al Jazeera gold mafia issues and the Presidency.

In the past weeks, the news firm announced they have corrected and clarified portions of the letter the Presidency wrote concerning the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s name that was included a gold smuggling documentary released to the public.

The Presidency on the other side have refused to issue a public response to Al-Jazeera as expected and now the Information Minister Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah is out that Johnnie’s Bite team had truncated portions of the response given to them by Al Jazeera.

Johnnie’s assertion on the matter was; “The suggestion is been made as if we truncated portions of the response that was given to us by Al Jazeera. That’s not correct because we put out everything. The main thing we should be asking is that if we here on Johnnie’s Bite had not written to Al Jazeera to ask them whether or not they’ve got the letter from the Presidency on behalf of the President and government of Ghana.”

“They had in return reply that they’ve responded to the letter that was written to them would you have known? Will the Information Minister be explaining to us? Johnnie asked.

“These explanations without diagrams is becoming too many. The diagram in this equation is the response from Al Jazeera which has being kept from the people. The people are being kept in the dark regarding the response,” he added.

“If Al Jazeera did anything that is unethical, talk to them. Surprisingly, it looks like officialdom is trying to pick on critical local media. Why are we not talking to Al Jazeera in the same tone? Why are not demanding from Al Jazeera what we are demanding from the local media?

“Two people sat on TV3 New Day claiming the email we had used was not credible we had forged it. That was the excuse they had and when that didn’t fly because we showed the source we go that email from.”

“If we had not written, will the Information Minister be explaining anything to you now?” he asked.

“If Al Jazeera didn’t provide those further particulars why is the government not suing Al Jazeera because if it had been local media we would have been dealt with. Those who said we have fabricated the email that is propagation of false news. If a journalist had done that they would have come after those journalists.”
