Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has shared the challenges he faced during his prolonged injury layoff, spanning nearly five months, as he edges closer to full fitness.

Partey, a key figure for both Arsenal and the Black Stars of Ghana, endured a frustrating period characterised by limited appearances, making just six Premier League outings for the Gunners this season, with two as a substitute post-injury.

His absence due to injury proved significant, causing him to miss crucial matches for both club and country, including the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

However, the Ghana midfielder marked his return to action with a cameo appearance in Arsenal’s commanding 6-0 away victory over Sheffield United, followed by another substitute appearance against Brentford.

Partey expressed his readiness to contribute to the team’s success candidly about his rehabilitation journey, stating, “It’s been tough for me, being injured for a long time, but now I am ready to give everything I can to the team. Anything I can add to our level, I will do.”

Partey highlighted his commitment to regaining peak fitness and contributing positively to Arsenal’s campaign. “I worked hard during my rehab to be able to come back to the level I need to be at. Now I want to get back with the team,” he added.

With Arsenal currently perched at the top of the Premier League table after 28 games, level on points with Liverpool, Partey’s impending return to full fitness adds depth to Mikel Arteta’s squad as they gear up for a crucial clash against Manchester City this weekend.

Reflecting on last season’s missed opportunities, particularly in the latter stages, Partey emphasized the importance of maintaining focus and resilience to avoid a similar fate.

“Last year we did so well, and came very close to what we wanted to achieve. This year we have lots of big players and I know we are capable of doing big things,” he stated.

As Arsenal prepares for the challenges ahead, Partey’s determination to make a significant impact signals a positive sign for the team’s aspirations in the remainder of the season.
