I'll be shocked if I don't get 60% of votes – Sam George

Member of Parliament for the Ningo Prampram, Sam George, has expressed confidence in winning the ongoing National Democratic Congress parliamentary primary to enable him seek a second term in the 2020 parliamentary election. After casting his vote Saturday, he told our correspondent Komla Klutse that he will be shocked if he fails to pull less than 60 per cent of votes to be cast in the constituency in the primary. “I’ll be shocked if I don’t grab above 60%,” Sam George confidently said. According to him, he has put measures in place to ensure his party retains the seat, which has for years been held by the NDC. His contender, Michael Tetteh, who is the currently the Constituency Chairman, is also confident of beating Sam George hands down to lead the NDC in the constituency into the next parliamentary election. Mr. Tetteh said his works in the constituency over the past years gives him an advantage over his opponent. He however said no matter the outcome of today’s elections, he will be ready to work with Sam George to ensure the NDC retains the seat. A total of 829 delegates from 89 out of 93 branches are expected to vote in the Ningo-Prampram Constituency. Activities have so far been calm at the St. Joseph Anglican Primary School where the election is being held, our correspondent reported. The NDC parliamentary primaries are ongoing concurrently across the country in 157 constituencies to elect candidates for the party ahead of the 2020 general elections.
