The Elections Committee of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has cautioned against the circulation of a fake voters’ list on social media ahead of the National and Regional Elections scheduled for tomorrow, Monday, June 30, 2025.
The Committee in a statement issued on Sunday, June 29 by its Chairman, Peter Martey Agbeko, urged all members to ignore what it described as “mischievous fabrication” parading as voter’s list and rely solely on the official voters’ register, which has been duly signed by both the GJA General Secretary and Treasurer.
The Committee adviced members to seek verification directly from the Elections Committee or visit the official GJA website if in doubt.
With regards to security measures for the elections, the Committee said the Ghana Police Service will be on standby across all regional voting centres to ensure a smooth voting process.
“Any individual or group that attempts to cause confusion will be promptly escorted out of the premises.
“All voters are advised to comport themselves responsibly to avoid any embarrassing incidents,” the Committee stated.
Identification for Voting
The Committee has approved only three valid forms of identification to be accepted for voting. They include; Ghana Card, Voter’s ID Card and Ghanaian Passport.
Each of these must bear the journalist’s name and photograph.
“Let us all work together to ensure a peaceful and credible election,” the Committee stressed.
