I didn’t predict defeat for Buaben Asamoa – Ben Ephson

Pollster Ben Ephson has denied reports that he predicted defeat for the Member of Parliament for Adentan Constituency, Yaw Buaben Asamoa, in the just-ended parliamentary primaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

During the polls on Saturday, June 20, out of the 744 valid votes cast in that constituency, Mr Buaben Asamoa polled 423 as against his closest contender’s, 217.

Speaking to the media after his victory, the Communications Director of the NPP said: “I feel happy, exuberant…whenever Ben [Ephson] predicts a loss for me I win”.

“So I want him to keep predicting that I’ll lose because that way I’ll win.”

But reacting to the comments on 3FM’s morning show, Sunrise, on Monday, June 22, Mr Epshon, also the Managing Editor of the Dispatch newspaper, said: “I said that he will win the primaries but NPP will lose the seat in the 2020 elections, I didn’t say he will lose the primaries.”

He added: “But if anything at all, I am humbled to be his motivator, that whenever I say that he will lose he wins, I am humbled to be such a motivator.”
