The High Court has directed the Electoral Commission (EC) to recollate and declare the results of the Ablekuma North and Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituencies, despite previous declarations.
Aggrieved parliamentary candidates from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had filed a writ, seeking to compel the EC to hold fresh elections in these constituencies. They cited anomalies in the collation of results and the subsequent declaration of winners.
Presiding judge Joseph Adu Owusu Agyeman, in his ruling on Friday, December 20, ordered the EC to proceed with the recollation of the results in the Ablekuma North constituency. This ruling was made despite objections from NDC legal representatives, led by Godwin Edudzi Tamaklo.

Both lawyers argued that the results of the constituencies had already been declared, but the court determined that anomalies in the process warranted the re-collation.
Six New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidates in the 2024 elections filed an application for a judicial review in the form of a Mandamus, urging the High Court to compel the Electoral Commission (EC) to collate and declare parliamentary results in their respective constituencies.
Charles Forson (Tema Central), Frank Annoh-Dompreh (Nsawam-Adoagyiri), Patrick Yaw Boamah (Okaikwei Central), Martin Kweku Adjei-Mensah Korsah (Techiman South), Nana Akua Owusu Afriye (Ablekuma North), and Eric Nana Agyemang Prempeh (Ahafo Ano North) will, therefore, be pleased with the decision of the court.
Additionally, the court ordered the Inspector General of Police to ensure adequate security at collation centres to enable the EC to carry out its constitutional duties without further disruptions.
