The Minister for the Interior, Henry Quartey has commended the European Union for donating equipment including laptops, desktop computers, among others to the Preventing Electoral Violence and Providing Security to the Northern Border Regions (NORPREVSEC) Programme to enhance intelligence gathering, improve collaboration, and strengthen evidence gathering.
Henry Quartey who was speaking during the handing over ceremony at the forecourt of the Ministry of National Security noted that the security of Ghana is paramount and therefore Government will continue to put measures in place to ensure the safety and security of the borders and the country as a whole.
The Minister expressed his gratitude to the leadership of NORPREVSEC for their effort in building a resilient security system in the country. He stated that he looked forward to more collaboration and acknowledged the donation as a significant step in the fight against terrorism.
The National Security Minister, Mr. Albert Kan Dapaah emphasised that the donation is pivotal in strengthening the Northern Regions and that it will further aid security agencies in enhancing data management which is vital for security management.
The European Union Ambassador, Irchad Razaaly, highlighted the importance of effectively maintaining and using the equipment to achieve the desired results.
The NORPREVSEC project aims to support Ghana’s security agencies in preventing and responding to security threats.
The donation marks a significant component of the project and is expected to enhance the operational capacity of the beneficiary agencies.
