Goldfields Ghana appoints first woman General Manager in Ghana’s mining history

Goldfields Ghana has announced the appointment of Ms Catherine Kuupol as the General Manager of its Tarkwa Mine. This appointment marks a significant milestone, as Ms Kuutor becomes the first woman to hold this position in the entire history of Ghanaian mining. Ms Kuupol takes the helm with over 20 years of experience in gold mining and a proven track record in metallurgical processes. She will oversee the day-to-day operations of all mine areas, ensuring adherence to Ghana’s Minerals and Mining Regulations. Prior to this promotion, Ms Kuupol blazed a trail as Goldfields’ first female Metallurgical Manager, overseeing both the Tarkwa and Damang mines. Her dedication to the industry extends beyond her professional experience. She is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Mines and Technology in Tarkwa, demonstrating her commitment to innovation and advancement in the field.
