Ghana National Fire Service apologises for PR officer’s comments on Kumasi fire incident

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has issued a formal apology to the Ashanti Regional Minister over comments made by a member of its Public Relations Team, AD01 Alex King Nartey, regarding a recent fire outbreak in Adum, Kumasi.

In an official statement signed by Acting Chief Fire Officer Daniella M. Ntow Sapong, the GNFS described the remarks as “uncomplimentary” and expressed deep regret for the incident. The service extended an “unreserved and sincere” apology to the Minister and the Chief of REGSEC in the Ashanti Region.

The statement acknowledged the efforts of the regional authorities in managing the fire outbreak and reiterated the GNFS’s commitment to fire prevention and response.

It further assured that appropriate disciplinary measures would be taken against the officer responsible to prevent similar incidents in the future.

We appreciate your contribution, sacrifices, and untiring efforts that contributed to the Operational Response and Management of this unfortunate Fire Incident,” the statement read.

The GNFS reaffirmed its dedication to reducing fire outbreaks in the Ashanti Region and pledged continued cooperation with regional authorities.
