“Ghana has 130 ambulance stations yet it has 90 ambulances, forty of which are faulty leaving the whole nation to lean on the remaining 50”, he said, adding sadly that “we have far less than what is needed”.
Speaking on Onua FM’s Yensempa today, Prof. Nuhu Zakariah said the service is still expecting some ambulance buses from the government to augment the current number.
He explained that “under normal circumstance, it should have been 250 people to one ambulance but with the current situation, it is now 1000 people to one ambulance which is woefully inadequate”.
Prof. Zakariah said “we don’t have enough that is why the government is procuring 200 new ones to augment the old ones. The first 10 are in now and we are expecting the rest by the end of the year”.
